Is displacement possible without language? This question was addressed in a recent work by Liszkowski and colleagues (Liszkowski, Schafer, Carpenter, & Tomasello, 2009). The authors carried out an experiment to demonstrate that 12-month-old prelinguistic infants can communicate about absent entities by using pointing gestures, while chimpanzees cannot. The main hypothesis of their study is that displacement does not depend on language but is, however, exclusively human and instead depends on species-specific social-cognitive human skills. The study explores mothers’ of premature infants experience of how health centers especially adapted for families with premature infants can help them to cope with everyday life after discharge from a neonatal intensive care unit. Background: Premature children are at higher risk for physical and mental health problems, which makes parenting demanding. The transition between hospital and home is a challenging period where parents may need extra support to cope with everyday life. Genetic association study of childhood aggression across raters, instruments, and age

AbstractChildhood aggressive behavior (AGG) has a substantial heritability of around 50%. Here we present a genome-wide association meta-analysis (GWAMA) of childhood AGG, in which all phenotype measures across childhood ages from multiple assessors were included. We analyzed phenotype assessments for a total of 328 935 observations from 87 485 children aged between 1.5 and 18 years, while accounting for sample overlap. We also meta-analyzed within subsets of the data, i.e., within rater, instrument and age. SNP-heritability for the overall meta-analysis (AGGoverall) was 3.31% (SE = 0.0038). Abstract The mismatch negativity (MMN) component of event-related potentials (ERPs), a measure of passive change detection, is suggested to develop early in comparison to other ERP components, and an MMN-like response has been measured even from preterm infants. The MMN response in adults is negative in polarity at about 150–200 ms. However, the response measured in a typical MMN paradigm can also be markedly different in newborns, even opposite in polarity. This has been suggested to be related to maturational factors. Un dels fets que va ajudar-ne a la recuparació va ser la creació de l'editorial La Galera l’any 1963 i la convocatòria del Premi Folch i Torres per a llibres infantils que alimentava la col•lecció Els Grumets de La Galera. Los efectos tardíos abarcan múltiples aspectos: médicos, neurocognitivos/educativos y sociales /comportamentales. espanolEn estas lineas se presenta una revision de la literatura existente sobre intervenciones enfocadas a mejorar la competencia lectora del alumnado con discapacidad auditiva, siendo seleccionados 17 articulos. Los programas que implicaron mejoras en la habilidad lectora del alumnado son aquellos que priorizan la promocion de las habilidades de alfabetizacion y el desarrollo de la conciencia fonologica. Se concluye que son numerosas las intervenciones exitosas, pero es necesario introducir modificaciones como aumentar la duracion e incluir un seguimiento post intervencion, homogeneizar los grupos segun grado de afectacion y sintomatologia, extrapolar la intervencion al contexto familiar …
